Ezra Furman Record Release Show: Saturday, Feb. 11th @ Hotel Utah

Ezra Furman Record Release Show
w/ Debbie Neigher, Clouds and Mountains
Hotel Utah (500 4th Street, San Francisco)
Saturday, February 11th, 9:00pm
$10, 21+

I am ridiculously excited to be a part of Ezra Furman‘s record release celebration at Hotel Utah on Saturday, February 11th.  After multiple records and national tours with his former band Ezra Furman and the Harpoons, Ezra took a step back to record a bold, raw, and exposed solo debut in the attic of his Chicago home.  On a personal note, I am extremely happy to be reuniting with him once again from when we used to play shows together at college on the other side of the country!

For this unique bill we’ll be sharing a band (featuring members from Thao Nguyen, Sean Hayes, and I’ll be playing some serious 1950s-style piano/singing backup vocals for Ezra after performing a set of my own), and the Denver-based Clouds and Mountains will start off the night.  I’ll be premiering a brand new song as well!

For some more details about his new album, you can read a fantastic recent interview he did with Paste Magazine HERE.

Dec. 11th: Show w/ Daniel Hart (Bon Iver, St. Vincent), The Family Crest, & Guy Fox @ Hemlock Tavern

After spending the better part of his summer supporting Bon Iver and the last ten years touring with groups like St. Vincent, Broken Social Scene, The Polyphonic Spree, and John Vanderslice, singer/violinist Daniel Hart is embarking on his own tour in anticipation of the release of his new solo record, “The Orientalist”.  Check out his latest music video “How Can Love Be Wrong” HERE.

I am thrilled and honored to be joining Daniel this Sunday, December 11th, as he stops through San Francisco at Hemlock Tavern.  Bon Iver, St. Vincent, and Broken Social Scene have been long-time musical heroes of mine, and I am ridiculously excited to share a bill with one of their incredibly talented touring members!

In honor of this strings-inspired evening, Adam Willumsen will be joining our full band set on violin, and chamber pop supergroup The Family Crest will be performing one of their unforgettable live sets that has garnered them sold-out crowds across the Bay Area.

Sunday, December 11th
Hemlock Tavern, 1131 Polk St., San Francisco
9pm, $6, 21+

Haunted Hoedown at Bottom of the Hill, Friday 10/28!

I can’t wait to be a part of a very special Halloween show at San Francisco’s Bottom of the Hill this Friday!  We’ll be transforming the historic rock venue for the night, featuring costume contests, free treats, and the first 50 people through the doors in costume will receive an autographed 12 X 18 copy of the concert poster designed by Zen Zenith of Please Do Not Fight, professionally printed on thick stock.  Please Do Not Fight will also be releasing pastpresentfuture: part 1, the first piece of their latest three-part full-length album.

I will be premiering a brand new song and welcoming some very special musical guests: Jesse Cafiero on bass/lap steel (Thao with the Get Down Stay Down, Dreams), Ezra Lipp on drums (Sean Hayes), Adam Willumsen on violin (Blue Rabbit), and Doug Pet on guitar/sax.  And yes, we will be in full costume.

Dreams Single Release Party w/ Tartufi @ Beatbox SF, this Thursday, Sept. 29th!

Okay, I’m going to be very honest here – I am so ridiculously excited about this show, it’s almost embarrassing. We’ve even started taking over Valencia Street…

Dreams is an unreal supergroup comprised of members of some of the Bay Area’s most talented young musicians (The Moanin Dove, Yesway, Honeycomb), and this show will celebrate the release of their very first single off their upcoming debut album.  In fact, the first 30 people through the door will receive a free copy of Dreams’ new single “With You.” Need convincing?  Check out their latest video courtesy of Porto Franco Records HERE!

Deemed the “Best Indie Band” by the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Tartufi is a mesmerizing force of loop-heavy, sonically-diverse soundscapes with overlaying harmonies, melodies, and poly-rhythms that leave audiences with their jaws hanging open.  I’ve seen them multiple times, and it’s absolutely true.

I’m so excited I’m even borrowing 2 members from Dreams for a full band set!  Andrew Maguire (Thao and Mirah) will be joining me on drums with Jesse Cafiero on lap steel, Jamie Riotto (The Moanin Dove) on bass, and Phil Pristia (Phantom Kicks, Seeking Empire) on guitar.

Oh, and did I mention there would be mimes and dancers?  This is an extremely special show not to be missed!

Record Release Show Photos and Review

Thank you so much to Shawn Robbins of Kata Rokkar for capturing some great photos of my record release show and for writing a beautiful review of the event.  I am grateful beyond words for the room full of friends and supporters who came out.  Getting to run into the audience after my set to play a set with John Vanderslice was unreal – we sang at the top of our lungs with tambourine, guitar, upright bass, and drum in hand.  Blue Rabbit and Tidelands played incredible sets as well, and there was nothing but love in that room.

You can read the full review HERE and see more pictures from the show on this website’s Media page.
